Accident Reporting Procedure

Accident Reporting Procedure

Find important details and contact information if you have an accident or need to report damage to your rental vehicle.

In the unfortunate event of an accident or damage to the rental vehicle, please do the following:

  • Contact us as soon as practical on 0800 500 660.
  • Notify the police if the accident involves injury.
  • If possible, prepare a written statement of the facts signed by all parties. If agreement cannot be reached, obtain a copy of the police report.
  • Do not make any admission of liability, as this may prejudice your insurance cover.
  • You will need to allow at least 30 minutes to complete a full accident report form, when you return the vehicle.
  • If you have a camera - please take photographs of damaged vehicles and the accident site. This will help us verify the damage and circumstances to assist us with any claim.

Please Note: As the renter, you are liable for the excess regardless of whether you are 'at fault' or not. The excess liability may vary depending on the vehicle. Refer to our Excess Reduction Cover page for full details of how you can reduce your excess liability.

Important: Record full details of all parties and vehicles involved in the accident.

  • Vehicle registration number
  • Address
